Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
WPF is a Microsoft framework built ontop of .NET used for developing thick client applications.
WPF represents a major innovation in highly interactive UI design. XAML is an XML language that offers true separation between UI design and logic, as well as an incredibly well designed method for binding data to UI elements. This does come at a cost however as working in WPF is significantly different from previous paradigms such as Windows Forms and has a very steep learning curve. Still Lind Innovation recommends to any of his clients considering a thick client application to use WPF as it is a much more flexible product than the alternatives such as Windows Forms.
